You tell us your length of stay, budget and about your travel preferences, and then we book your Surprise Getaway based upon this information.
We send customers to mid-sized cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The length of your stay and transportation option will largely determine how far away you go. Destinations will have public transportation and plenty of resources and activities to keep you busy during your length of stay.


An email one week before you depart, detailing the weather forecast for your surprise destination, whether you should pack anything specific, and any luggage restrictions. It will also tell you where to go and when for your departure (i.e. Grand Central Station @ 5:30PM)
An envelope in the mail one to two days before you depart. Resist the urge – don’t open it until the day you depart!  This envelope contains your boarding passes / tickets, information about your destination, directions to your accommodation (hotel, bed & breakfast), additional useful information, including transportation maps, history of the city, tickets, etc.
We also email the above information in digital format as well.

*Smoking is NOT permitted in any accommodations we set up on your behalf and may result in fines or expulsions from your accommodation!

Pay for your food or dining

You pay for your trip directly through when you are checking out.
 All payments and applicable refunds are processed through Stripe or PayPal.
Stripe, PayPal and Don’t Forget the List all guarantee that your payment and personal information are safe and protected.

We do not make accommodations for your pets unless you are travelling with a Service Animal.  Please note any special accommodations you may need with regards to Service Animals on your survey. We may require a copy of your Service Animal’s paperwork for reservations purposes.


The purchase of any travel services offered by Don’t Forget the List, LLC (hereinafter “DFTL”) constitutes a contractual arrangement between The Client (all travelers on the trip, hereinafter as “Client”) and DFTL, and represents the Client’s acceptance of the DFTL Terms & Conditions set out herein. Please ensure that the Client reads carefully and understands these Terms & Conditions prior to booking. Acceptance of these Terms and Conditions is a condition of booking and is the Client’s acknowledgement that they have read, understood and agreed to be bound by them.
When the Client books their trip, they accept the terms of these booking conditions on behalf of the entire party. It is the Client’s sole responsibility to ensure that all of the details on the confirmations are correct.
As a member of Outside Agents Host Agency, Don’t Forget the List is licensed to sell travel in all states.

Surprise Travel
DFTL chooses where you go based on your package selection, preferences and travel dates.

By agreeing to these Terms & Conditions, you give DFTL permission to select the destination for your trip. As such, DFTL cannot be held liable if you are unhappy with your destination, and we will not offer refunds under these circumstances. We select your destination city based upon your survey responses, budget and available tickets and accommodations based upon your dates of travel. By paying for our services, you agree to relinquish control over your destination.

If there are any specific cities you do not wish to visit on your trip with DFTL, please be sure to include in your survey and we will avoid sending you there.

Destination of your choosing DFTL will help you plan a trip based upon the destination of your choosing.

By agreeing to these Terms & Conditions, you give DFTL permission to book all accommodations for your trip, including transportation and hotel accommodations. As such, DFTL cannot be held liable if you are unhappy with your destination or accommodations and we will not offer refunds under these circumstances.


Week prior to Travel Date
DFTL will contact you with pre-trip information one week prior to departure. This will include how to pack for your trip and any information that you will need to know ahead of time including any size and weight restrictions to which you must adhere. Should your baggage not comply with these restrictions, you will incur all additional charges.

Day of Travel

We tell you exactly where you need to be and when you need to be there. PLEASE don’t be late.
Check-in times vary by carrier/airport, and one week prior to departure, DFTL will advise the best time to arrive and check in for your travel, according to your departure time and mode of transportation. Should you have any questions regarding this timing or process, contact DFTL as soon as possible.
If you have any questions about your Surprise Trip or Reservation, please contact us as soon as possible.

Accommodation Compliance
Your accommodation is included in your budget amount. All additional fees incurred through incidentals (room service, late checkout, items stolen or broken etc.) are to be paid by the customer.

You may be asked to provide a credit or debit card at the time of check in for incidentals. Incidentals and rates will vary depending on the type of accommodation at time of check-in. We do not make any accommodations for your non-service animals. All of our properties are non-smoking.
Customers are required to comply with all rules and regulations of their lodging accommodation. Failure to do so may result in fees or expulsion from the hotel or bed & breakfast. DFTL will not be held liable for any additional fees incurred or legal proceedings between the customer and accommodation.


Ticket Delivery

DFTL will provide all necessary documents and details prior to the day of departure via hard copy and via email. All of the ticketing information and itineraries are sent through the Main Traveler’s home address and email address on the day of departure. Please double check to make sure your home and email address is entered correctly.
Some travel partners may require you to print your ticket at the airport, we will let you know if this is the case. If you do not receive these documents, please contact DFTL as soon as possible.

Trip Extra’s

Any additional monies left over in the budget will be used to purchase trip extras (i.e. activities, transfers, tickets, etc.) that we think you’ll enjoy based on your survey.

However, this is not the primary responsibility of DFTL.



Travel Insurance
DFTL will provide the Traveler with information regarding Travel Insurance, before departing on their trip.  All travelers are strongly encouraged to obtain a comprehensive travel insurance policy to protect against unforeseen circumstances, such as baggage loss, flight delays, travel agent insolvency and medical emergencies. We shall not be responsible, under any circumstances, for any such matters.

PLEASE NOTE:  We cannot guarantee any refunds based on weather delays / cancellations or personal conflicts / changes if you choose not to purchase travel insurance.  This will also protect against any additional fees that might be incurred should your plans change for any reason.

Ticket Changes
Changes are subject to availability. Any changes to your ticket including Name Changes, Changes to Travel Times or Types of Travel will be charged an additional $100 in addition to any fees charged by the provider of the ticket. Please contact DFTL as soon as possible to discuss your options as we cannot guarantee a refund or rebooking. Changes to travel types, times or name changes can be made up to one week prior to departure.

Name Changes
Please make sure your name matches your ID exactly. All passenger details must exactly match your government issued ID (Driver’s License, Passport, State ID). Changes to names are treated as a cancellation with most airlines and other service providers and as such standard charges and conditions will apply. If for any reason a name change is necessary, please contact DFTL as soon as possible.

Late or Missed Travel
Failure to check-in for your flight, bus, or train at the appropriate time may result in the transportation host denying your boarding or marking you as a “no-show”, thus voiding your ticket entirely and additional charges may be incurred as a result. Check-in times vary by carrier and airport.
Should you have any questions regarding the transportation portion of your travel contact DFTL as soon as possible.
DFTL is not responsible for missed travel as a result of customer error. We guarantee that you have all of the information ahead of time to be where you need to be at the right time.

Cancelled Travel

Should you need to cancel your travel or your plans change for any reason, please contact DFTL immediately.
Refunds are subject to the transportation and accommodation providers through which your reservations are made and cancelled bookings will not be fully refunded and may result in fully forfeiting 100% of the cost of the booking.
DFTL charges a $300 service fee for travel cancelled for any reason regardless of the time frame. Any cancellations made the week of travel will not be refunded.

Luggage Restrictions
DFTL will give you suggestions on what to pack given your trip and itinerary. DFTL will also provide information on the luggage restrictions based upon the transportation company you will be utilizing for your trip. Should you choose to check additional bags or your luggage does not adhere to weight or size requirements, any extra fees are the responsibility of “The Client” at time of check-in. Luggage and Baggage policies vary from carrier to carrier.



All payments and any applicable refunds (see below) are processed through Stripe or PayPal. All payments for Surprise Travel are made at time of checkout on the website and any confirmed booking is subject to your credit card approval for the transaction.
Stripe, PayPal and Don’t Forget the List all guarantee that your payment and personal information are safe and protected.

Refunds are not guaranteed and all requests for a refund will be considered on a case by case basis.
Please note that any request for refunds are subject to the Terms & Conditions.
All requests for refunds must be submitted directly to DFTL. No refund will be made for package features that the Client opts not to use.

“No show” penalties could result in forfeiture of 100% of the package or component costs.

Any complaint or claim involving the vacation services booked through DFTL, involving the negligence of any transportation companies or accommodations in relation to any service provided to the Client, must be brought to the attention of DFTL immediately or within 10 days of the trip completion.

Any requests for refunds filed more than 10 days after returning from a trip will not be considered.

Gift Certificates
Gift certificates are valid for 1 year after the purchase date.
Gift certificates are non-refundable but are transferable to another party at any time during the 12 months after purchase.



For travelers: By sending us photos from your trip, you agree to grant DFTL full usage rights to your photos for any commercial/promotional purposes, including collaborations with partner companies.
The unauthorized use of any images on is forbidden. The images on the testimonials page are the sole property of the traveler and Don’t Forget the List, and may not be used by third parties without written consent.
You MUST contact directly for any media inquiries, use of images or text. Failure to do so may result in legal action.




Please note, DFTL cannot control such factors as weather, government actions, mechanical breakdowns, your physical, medical or mental disabilities, your failure to obtain valid travel documents or your failure to follow instructions. DFTL is not responsible for injuries and damages that you may incur during the course of your trip, including but not limited to: injury or theft during travel by train, aircraft, bus or other means of transportation; forces of nature; political unrest; acts of lawlessness or terrorism; and accident or illness. By agreeing to participate in a DFTL trip you agree that you will hold DFTL harmless regarding any provision of medical care or the adequacy of any care rendered.

Factors beyond our control may include but are not limited to: war, threats of war, riots, civil disturbances, terrorist activity, industrial disputes, natural and nuclear disasters, fire, epidemics, health risks, changes due to rescheduling or cancellation of flights by an airline or alteration of the airline or aircraft type; closed or congested airports or ports; hurricanes and other actual or potential severe weather conditions, acts of government or public authorities or other circumstances.

DFTL cannot accept liability or responsibility for any airline or supplier bankruptcy or insolvency and the failure to provide any services that may follow.

Important airline ticket terms and conditions and other important notices apply to air transportation.

Federal law forbids the carriage of hazardous materials aboard aircraft in your luggage or on your person. A violation can result in five years’ imprisonment and penalties of $250,000 or more (49 U.S.C. § 5124). Hazardous materials include explosives, compressed gases, flammable liquids and solids, oxidizers, poisons, corrosives and radioactive materials. Examples: Paints, lighter fluid, fireworks, tear gases, oxygen bottles, and radio-pharmaceuticals. There are special exceptions for small quantities (up to 70 ounces total) of medicinal and toilet articles carried in your luggage and certain smoking materials carried on your person. For further information contact your airline representative. Violation of these restrictions will result in imprisonment and financial penalties.

DFTL will not be held liable for transgressions against air transportation requirements.

If something goes wrong during your trip please contact DFTL as soon as possible and we will do our very best to assist by any means available to us.



The Client agrees to attempt in good faith to resolve any disputes directly with DFTL before taking further action with any credit card company, consumer advocacy group or courts. The Client agrees not to dispute any credit card charges which were made consistent with the DFTL Travel Agency and the terms of this Agreement. Should the Client file a dispute with any of the afore mentioned groups and receive credit, the Client agrees to still be liable for and pay to DFTL any amounts credited back to the Client.


This Agreement shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Ohio and both the Client and DFTL consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Medina County Court of Common Pleas, located in Medina, Ohio, for any dispute arising from this Agreement.

The Client and DFTL further agree that any dispute relating to the Client’s payment of fees to DFTL by any means shall be adjudicated solely by the Medina County Court of Common Pleas, located in Medina, Ohio, and that should the Client initiate a dispute whose intended result is the nonpayment of fees to DFTL, the sole method for the resolution of said dispute shall be by litigation before the Medina County Court of Common Pleas, located in Medina, Ohio.

The Client and DFTL further agree that in the event of any breach or threatened breach by the Client or DFTL, either party may obtain, in addition to any other legal remedies which may be available, such equitable relief which the Medina Court of Common Pleas may deem necessary and proper to protect DFTL or the Client against any such breach or threatened breach.


In the event that the Client initiates any dispute whose intended result is the nonpayment of fees to DFTL, the Client will be required to pay any legal costs incurred by DFTL to enforce any fee payment provision of this Agreement, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, in addition to any other relief to which DFTL may be entitled.


DFTL acts as an agent for independent travel suppliers, such as airlines, hotels and other independent suppliers to provide you with the services you purchase; and is represented in destination by companies organized and existing in that destination, including providers of transportation and excursions.

DFTL sells products and services as an agent on behalf of such carriers (Third-Party Suppliers) and has no responsibility for products or services provided by any Third-Party Suppliers that you purchase separately (extra checked bags, food or drinks on flight, etc.). We give and make no warranty or representation regarding the services or products supplied by Third-Party Suppliers.

We have taken all reasonable steps to ensure that proper arrangements have been made for your vacation. However, we do not accept and expressly disclaim any liability for the actions or omissions of these independent suppliers.

You understand and agree that DFTL shall not be liable for any loss, injury, expense or damage to persons or property resulting, directly or indirectly, from the acts or omissions of these independent travel suppliers, including but not limited to delays, over bookings, cancellation of services, cessation of operations, accidents, failures of equipment, or changes in fares, itineraries or schedules.
DFTL cannot control and will not be responsible for bodily injury, property or other damage or loss caused by factors beyond our control, including but not limited to flight delays, airline turbulence, transportation accidents, war, terrorism, weather, quarantine, sickness, government restrictions, regulations or actions, mechanical breakdowns, fires, earthquakes, floods, climatic aberrations, acts of, civil unrest, strikes, riots, theft, disease or accidents, or failures related to the public internet, telecommunications lines or facilities, or third party technology systems, other unforeseen circumstances, or any other cause beyond our control, including your physical, medical or mental disabilities, your failure to obtain valid travel documents or your failure to follow travel instructions. Under no circumstances shall DFTL be liable for any special, incidental or consequential damages arising from the foregoing.

DFTL, the airlines, bus, and train providers issue tickets and/or electronic documents covering your specific transportation and hotel/accommodations. Neither DFTL nor these suppliers, or their respective subagents, shall be held liable for loss or damage to property or injury of person caused by reason of any act, omission, defect or negligence by any other hotel agency, transportation company or party providing such services or facilities.

All parties concerned are not liable for any claim arising out of or in connection with carriage or other services or features otherwise performed or occurring in connection with this package, except as provided in the conditions of carriage for the transportation company and the passenger tickets issued in conjunction with this package. DFTL is not responsible under any circumstances for any injury or damages you may suffer in connection with your air or ground transportation.

As such the Client will indemnify and hold DFTL harmless from all claims arising out of the rendering of services for the Client by DFTL. This includes, without limitation, all liabilities, expenses, costs, damages and/or losses of any kind, and reasonable attorneys’ fees and all expenses in connection with defending any claim, arising out of any and all acts or omissions in connection with the performance of services including, but not limited to, suitability claims, sales practices’ claims, and any claims by individuals arising out of events resulting from any lead or appointment set by DFTL on behalf of the Client.

By agreeing to these terms & conditions, you accept these risks and dangers and agree to hold DFTL harmless for such.


Any notice required by this Agreement or given in connection with it, shall be in writing and shall be given to the appropriate party by personal delivery or by certified mail; postage prepaid, or recognized overnight delivery services.

Either party’s failure to insist in any one or more instances upon strict performance by the other party of any of the terms of this Agreement shall not be construed as a waiver of any continuing or subsequent failure to perform or delay in performance of any term hereof.


Headings used in this Agreement are provided for convenience only and shall not be used to construe meaning or intent.
